we're celebrating 20 years of an ENABLED workplace

Erin McGregor, president of Chevron’s ENABLED network from 2008–2021, with her stepdaughter Emma.
Erin McGregor knows a thing or two about disabilities. Her mother was a special education teacher. Her aunt taught adults with developmental disabilities. Her 27-year-old stepdaughter, Emma, has profound disabilities due to her life limiting disease, Metachromatic Leukodystrophy, requiring assistance with day-to-day activities. Erin also has other immediate family members who are neurodiverse.
And Erin herself—a senior Human Resources business partner at Chevron—developed tendinitis in both arms fifteen years ago. She couldn’t wring out a washcloth, cut her own food or turn a doorknob without pain.
But none of that has stopped Erin from helping her loved ones—and her coworkers at Chevron—empower themselves and reach their full potential.
an advocate for all abilities
Erin is a former president of our global ENABLED (ENhancing ABilities and LEveraging Disabilities) employee network. Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, ENABLED’s 13 chapters around the globe provide resources, awareness and education about how to build and maintain a productive, inclusive work environment.
“Our ENABLED employee network isn’t just another aspect of diversity and inclusion,” Erin said. “It’s an integral part of a culture that allows employees to bring their authentic selves to work every day.”

The motivation for Chevron to develop programs for people with disabilities is rooted in a set of fundamental principles called The Chevron Way. This integral part of our culture is always evolving and has guided our diversity and inclusion programs, processes and initiatives over the years.
Here’s a look at how our ENABLED network has also evolved, ensuring that our human ingenuity has the power to solve any challenge and overcome any obstacle.
