chevron pledges $1.2 million to western australia

April 1, 2020

In Australia, Chevron is contributing $1.2 million to assist communities in Western Australia (WA). We have launched the $600,000 Chevron Onslow Relief Fund to provide financial support and critical health services to Onslow residents, Aboriginal communities, local businesses and the unemployed.

The fund is a stimulus package delivered by the Onslow Chamber of Commerce and Industry, designed to help strengthen community resilience through short- and long-term business support; upskilling opportunities for residents; and “shop local” vouchers for eligible residents to use at participating local businesses.

In partnership with the WA Country Health Service, the fund will also support the delivery of healthcare and COVID-19 awareness to the Onslow community.

“The Onslow community is at the heart of the work we do to power homes and essential industries across Western Australia with safe and reliable natural gas. The Chevron Onslow Relief Fund is our commitment to lend a hand to local businesses and community members impacted by these uncertain and challenging times.”

On top of the $600,000 Chevron Onslow Relief Fund, an additional $600,000 has been pledged to essential service providers throughout the region. Through a collaborative industry effort led by the Chamber of Minerals and Energy of WA, the contribution will help support the Australian Royal Flying Doctor Service, Foodbank WA and Lifeline WA. It will also assist COVID-19 patients in remote and regional WA, as well as support mental health and provide essential supplies to vulnerable community members.
