With thousands of wells in operation, Chevron is one of the largest oil-equivalent producers in California where we produced 96,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2021.

Almost 60,000 gigawatt hours of solar energy were generated by the Lost Hills solar plant to power our operations in 2020. This is the equivalent of the electricity needed to power more than 5,500 average American homes.

In 2020, approximately 96% of SJVBU’s water intake amount was water produced by our oil and natural gas operations, and almost 79% of the total intake amount was reused for beneficial purposes.

We worked with SunPower to develop a 29-megawatt solar plant to power our operations, which is now owned by Goldman Sachs Renewable Power, at the Lost Hills oil field in Kern County. Learn more about how this project is delivering lower-carbon electricity.

Chevron is partnering with California Bioenergy LLC and dairy farmers to capture methane to produce renewable natural gas (RNG), which we have been doing since 2020.

Chevron initiated relationships with Chargepoint and EVgo to pilot EV charging stations at select Chevron retail fuel locations across California, including a ChargePoint station here in Central California at the Coalinga Chevron station on W. Dorris Avenue.

Chevron was awarded a project from the U.S. Department of Energy (project #DE-FE0031944) to pilot technology that captures CO2 from post-combustion gas. In collaboration with Svante, Inc. and the National Energy Technology Laboratory, we are planning to test the technology at our Kern River facility in San Joaquin Valley, California.

Chevron worked with SunPower and Safari Energy to install solar carports capable of generating 2 megawatts of electricity to power our Bakersfield Energy Center offices.
